LADIES AUXILIARY TO THE VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS

DEPARTMENT OF WYOMING

GENERAL ORDERS # 2 OCTOBER 2011

These General Orders are to be read at the First Meeting
Following receipt before being filed for reference

1. The Department of Wyoming will hold its Mid-Winter Conference on January 13-14th, 2012 in Casper at the Parkway Plaza and it is sponsored by Mills 10969. Everyone is encouraged to attend. Registration is on the web site and it has been sent out to each Auxiliary.

2. A Council of Administration meeting for the Department of Wyoming Ladies Auxiliary will be on January 13th, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. at the Parkway Plaza. District Presidents are reminded that if you cannot attend this meeting, to please make sure that the Sr. Vice President or Jr. Vice President is in attendance.

3. District Presidents make sure that you are sending copies of your inspection reports to me and the Counselor of District Presidents, Jeanie Lowe at 2801 Northwing Drive, Manhattan, Kansas 66502. Make sure that all the questions are answered on your forms and the inspections need to be completed by December 31, 2011. Please send your mileage in to Department Treasurer Ruth Schaich PO Box 21509 Cheyenne, Wyoming 82009, as you get the inspections finished.

4. Our National President Gwen Rankin will be flying into Jackson Hole on November 1, and we would like to have a nice group of Auxiliary Sisters and Post Members to meet her. The form is online. www.wyomingvfw.com

5. Each District has a new Deputy Chief of Staff to help and watch for any red flags in the Auxiliaries and Districts.

6. Department Program Chairman- Please make sure that you are sending your Promotional material to your National Director, Western Conference Chairman, and to Jeanie Lowe, our Department Program Chairman.

7. National Convention- I want to Thank each one of you for giving me the privilege to represent all of you at the National Convention in San Antonio.

8. The Voice of Democracy and Patriot’s Pen Contests are hopefully in full swing and the entries should be in to the Post’s by November 1st. Please make sure you check up on any entries you think should be coming in and make sure they are correctly done.

9. Fall District Meetings- The Fall District meetings and the School of Instructions were well attended. The weather was beautiful and I enjoyed meeting and visiting with all the Auxiliary Sisters that made it there.

10. The Department Christmas Party put on by the VAMC will be December 9, 2011. They will serve the Nursing Home residents at 5:30pm with entertainment by the East High School Strolling Strings. Please RSVP to Ruth Schaich at (307) 630-6095 or ruth.schaich@yahoo.com. Santa visits the entire hospital.

11. Wreaths Across America PO Box 249 Columbia Falls, MA 04623 phone number (207) 470-0967. Wreaths are $15.00 each. Place your order soon so they know how many they need. Indicate where you want them sent—Arlington National Cemetery, Greenhill Cemetery, Laramie WYGHCL, Wheatland Cemetery Veterans Memorial- Wheatland WYWCVW, Beth El Cemetery in the Cheyenne Cemetery Complex-Cheyenne WYBLCC, Cheyenne Memorial Gardens Cemetery-Cheyenne WYCMGC or the Riverside Cemetery-Cody WYRSCC.

12. We are still in need of Hospital funds. They are just not coming in like they should. A very few Auxiliaries are supporting this program. It is time to send out the Department Christmas checks to Sheridan and Cheyenne VAMS and the Buffalo Veterans Home.

13. Membership is just not coming in again. It is very important to the Veterans and their families as well as the Community. Make sure you get the membership in, since we need 91% by December and 100% for the year. We need to all Step Up-Leave No Veteran Behind.

14. The VFW National Home Health and Happiness-Christmas Cheer Fund is another important Program. Each Auxiliary is tasked with sending in .10 per member based on the 30th of June membership. These funds may come from the Relief Fund as prescribed in the Booklet of Instruction under Relief Funds (yellow pages).

15. Treasurer Ruth Schaich has still not had final word from the Internal Revenue Service. As soon as that arrives you will all be advised so that the taxes can be filed. She expects to hear something any day.

General Order’s #1 - July 2011


These General Orders are to be read at the First Meeting
following receipt before being filed for reference.

1. Having been duly elected and installed as Wyoming Department President at the 78th Department Convention in Afton, Wyoming on June 11th, 2011. I, Cheryl Sutter, do hereby assume said office. All prior appointments and General Orders are now null and void.

2. Department Officers duly elected and installed for the ensuing year are:
President: Cheryl Sutter
Sr. Vice President: Linda Parkins
Jr. Vice President: Lori Norby
Treasurer: Ruth Schaich
Secretary: Joleen King
Chaplain: Becky Darnell
Conductress: Ansje Lansing
Guard: Lo Harris

I have appointed Joleen King as Secretary, and Arlene Birkle as Chief of Staff. All other appointees and committees will be in our new Directory and on our website.

3. Installation Reports are past-due, as per Bylaw Sec. 806A, paragraph 5. All installation reports must be on file with National and Department Secretaries. If yours is not, your Auxiliary will not receive important information it needs in order to function properly.

4. All Audits shall be conducted in accordance with Bylaws Sec. 814 and 814A. Second quarter Audit covers months of April, May and June and shall be conducted during the month of July with both the outgoing and incoming Treasurer and Trustees present. A copy must be mailed to the Department Treasurer no later than July 30, 2011.

5. The Treasurer’s Bond will expire August 31, 2011. This year both the President and the Treasurer will be bonded. This will become effective with the 2011 bonds. It shall be the duty of the Trustees to see that the offices of the President and Treasurer are bonded with an indemnity company authorized by National Headquarters or the Department as surety in a sum at least double the amount of funds and value of property for which, so far as can be anticipated, the President and Treasurer may be accountable. The amount shall be approved by the body and the bond premium paid from their funds. The office of President shall hold the bond. Section 814A paragraph 11 page 84.

6. Community Service is what we do in all of our Programs, and we have a new report form that needs to be filled out with all the hours, mileage and money spent information on the bottom of the page, and turned into each respective Program Chairman. The information will be added up so it can be reported to the Comrades on the 1st of May and October.

7. District Presidents are reminded that there are new Auxiliary Inspection forms and the inspections are very important. When they are filled out, we can look for any red flags areas where the Auxiliary may need help. If any member of the Ladies Auxiliary has any questions or concerns, they will be urged to contact the Department President first, and that way National will be contacted only if it is necessary.

8. Department Web-site: Our web-site, wyoladiesauxvfw.com has a lot of information on it, and the Department Program Chairmen will be using this site to promote their programs. Any events that are coming up may be sent to karhuck@rtconnect.com to be put on the web-site. There will also be an e-mail newsletter sent out with information as it becomes available from National. When the General Orders are sent out, a newsletter will be included with it and anyone that would like information included in this mailing may sent it to 307-437-6355 or joleen82931@hotmail.com .

9. President’s Special Project: “VETERAN’S AIDE” We have Veterans from all over that have many diverse needs, and we need to have help for them when they contact us. We have two Wonderful VA Hospitals in Cheyenne, and Sheridan and the home in Buffalo that need things all the time for our Veterans. We need to be there for them just like they were there for us when we needed them.

10. National Convention in San Antonio Texas is just around the corner on August 27th- September 1, 2011, so send your $15.00 advance registration in before August 15, 2011! Whether you attend or not, you will receive your “Step Up-Leave No Veteran Behind” Program book. Registration goes up to $20.00 at the Convention.

11. School of Instruction will be held along with the seven District Meetings in September and October, and you are encouraged to attend them. The school of instruction is very important, and everyone that can should attend to get lots of information with great ideas from the Program Chairmen. The District Schedule is:

12. National President’s Visit will be on November 1st-November 3rd, 2011 in Jackson. An agenda and cost will be made available when her travel plans are confirmed. Put these dates on your calendar early to meet our National President Gwen Rankin.

This will be a busy year, and working together as a team, we can accomplish anything. We want to “Step Up- And Leave No Veteran Behind” and let them know that “We Are There For You”.
