Sr. Vice Ways & Means Update

Linda Parkins, Ways and Means Chairman

I would like to thank, not only the people that sold raffle tickets, but also the people that purchased raffle tickets for the 17 HMR Rifle. The lucky winner was Rose Thompson from Evansville, Wyo. After paying the cost of the gun we raised $3,579.20. Congratulations Rose.

Also my thanks go out to all the Auxiliaries who contributed snack trays. I heard lots of positive comments about how good they looked. The snack trays and the booze baskets raffle netted $584.00 for ways and mean. My shoes were auctioned off for $150.00, and that money was to go to ways and means also. I am not sure if the $584.00 includes that amount or not. I will continue to try and find that out. Grand total raised $4,163.20. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.

Now we need to look forward to State Convention in June. We will hold a silent auction on the Theme Baskets as we have done in the past. Let your imagination go wild and see what neat kinds of ideas you can come up with for this. Also we will hold another Booze Basket raffle. These will be my final fund raiser for my year. Thanks for helping me raise money for the Ways and Means this year.

Respectfully,

Linda Parkins, Sr. Vice President
Ways and Means Chairman
Department President Update

 Ladies Auxiliary to the VFW

Department of Wyoming

Hi Ladies,

Thank you for the honor of letting me represent the Department of Wyoming this year as your President.

A newsletter will be sent out along with the 4 General Orders which will be posted on the website. A paper copy will still be sent to those that don’t have e-mail access. Any information that you would like included in it, please forward to Joleen King. We would like to have an e-mail address from each Auxiliary and that person will be responsible to pass the information on to the rest of the members. We would eventually like an e-mail address for every Auxiliary member in the state. National is having a contest for new e-mail addresses that begins at 6:00 a.m. on August 1st and concludes at 6:00 p.m. on December 31st 2011. The rules are on the website and we would love to have a whole bunch of new e-mails sent in during this time to Joleen.

We need to work on getting 100% membership and do it as quickly as you can. We made 100% year before last, so we know it is possible. Let’s work real hard and do it again. Don’t hold on to the dues, but send them in as you receive them. PLEASE attend your district meetings. A School of Instruction will be held in conjunction with them and programs change every year. It’s important that you get this information. I plan on being at all of the fall district meetings. I love to meet new people and am looking forward to being in your district. After you have read about each of the programs, please pick one thing in each program and do it and REPORT IT. Everyone should be able to report at least one thing on each of the 9 programs. Last but not least, PLEASE work with your Post Members. We can accomplish a lot by working with them. We can let our Veterans know that “WE ARE THERE FOR YOU“, AND we’ll “STEP UP-AND LEAVE NO VETERAN BEHIND."

My special project this year is “VETERAN’S AIDE”. We have Veterans in need for all kinds of things all over our state. Please send a donation in with this earmarked as “President’s Project”.

I will be out of the state August 26- September 2 attending the National Convention in San Antonio Texas. Most of the Line Officers will also be attending. Ansje Lansing, our Department Conductress, will be the officer to contact in case you need anything.

We just about have the Department Roster finished. If you need to contact me, my phone number is 307-883-4312 or cell 307-654-1127. If I’m not there, please leave a message and I’ll get back to you. My address is P.O. Box 515 Thayne, Wy. 83127, and my e-mail address is candcsutter@yahoo.com.
