Dear Auxiliary Sisters,

Hi and G’day (as my middle daughter would say). Allow me to introduce myself; I am Beckie Darnell, State Veterans and Family Support Chairman for Ladies Auxiliary 2011-2012. This year under the leadership of National President Gwen Rankin we will work with the motto of “Step Up- Leave No Veteran Behind”.

I live in Jeffrey City, WY. with my wonderful husband J.Dee, a Vietnam Veteran and my father-in-law Jack, a WWII Veteran. My father Harold was a mechanic in the Air Force and my brother Scott was on subs in nuclear science for the Navy. I belong to Auxiliary 954 in Lander, WY where I continue to serve as Auxiliary President. I am State Chaplin for 2011-2012 and in my “off hours” I continue to work full time as LPN at Westward Heights in Lander.

I join our national director, Deborah Griffin for Veterans and Family Support in believing our program is What we are, Who we are and Why we are.

As many know this program is used to reach veterans and their families needing support in many ways. There are four main components:

~ National Military Services: composed of the MAP (Military Assistance Program), Unmet Needs and Operation Uplink.

~ Our goal for this program is $1,000,000. This is less than $2 per member (easily done if you go just one time without the special coffee or piece of pie for dessert).

~ There are now 2 free call days for the troops each month in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kuwait. Ladies Auxiliary always sponsors the free calls on Mother’s Day.

~ Remember the one-time grants up to $2,500 under Unmet Needs

~ Ladies Auxiliary Continuing Education Scholarship

~ One scholarship of $1000 is awarded in each of our four conferences. This is a great tool for so many people!!!

I would like to challenge all of our local Posts and Auxiliaries to see who can raise the most money for National Military Services.
