January 2012

Dear Sisters,

Happy New Year! Wow, where has the last 6 months gone? I want to take this time to apologize to all of you for not getting out more info to you in a more timely fashion. There has been a number of major medical issues in my family and it has taken alot of my time.

Veteran's Day in November certainly sparked many schools to have wonderful progams. All the grade schools in Cody went over and above to show their support for our veterans and the men and women who are currently serving. If this is the case in your area, please remember to report this. Did any of your youth groups help serve Veteran's Day Dinners? If so, make sure you report any and all information to me.

With the Wreaths across America, The Civil Air Patrol and many of our Vets in Cody helped to lay wreaths on all the veteran grave sites. Its amazing how many of our youths promote patriotism in their own way. I'm sure this is also true in your area. To encourage them to visit our many veteran shut-ins in nursing home and assisted living homes would be an added plus and would put a smile on a veteran's face.

With the holidays behind us, lets not forget to recognize all the youth groups that did special projects during the holiday time. Many helped the Families On The Front Lines with gift boxes for our soldiers over seas. Or perhaps adopted a needy family and provied a food basket and gifts. Or even help with a Toys For Tots Drive. Acknowledgment goes along way for these kids!

I hope you all have passed out the information regarding the Creative Patriotic Art. There is a ton of talent in our state and I would love to show it off. Don't forget about the home schooled kids. Everyone should have a chance at this contest. With a top national prize of $10,000.00 scholarship it waould be fabulous if a Wyoming young person grabs the "golden ring".

Do recognize the Girl Scouts in your area who have completed their Bronze, SIlver and Gold awards for community service. Please fill ou the "The Girl Scout Awards Request Form" and send it up to National Headquarters. These citations are a lovely way to say "thank you" and do present them at an Auxiliary meeting.

Please remember that I will need your year end reports no later than April 16th 2012. These forms were mailed to you back in July.

In closing, I want to thank each and every one of you in advance for all your hard work and dedication to our Veterans.

Loyally,
